  • Mr. Ang Kian Seng

    Group Director, Environmental Sustainability Group, Building and Construction Authority

    BCA’s mission is to shape a safe, high quality, sustainable and friendly built environment. The Environmental Sustainability Group initiates and implements policies and measures to enhance the sustainability of the built environment.
    As Group Director of the Environmental Sustainability Group, Kian Seng oversees the BCA Green Mark Scheme which certifies buildings on their level of environmental friendliness and energy efficiency. Kian Seng plays an instrumental role in the formulation and implementation of BCA’s 3rd Green Masterplan, with the long term goal of greening 80% of Singapore’s buildings by 2030. The Masterplan will guide Singapore’s green building journey, placing more emphasis on stakeholder engagement and collaboration to create a deeper community involvement in sustainable development.
    Kian Seng is the 2nd Vice President of the Singapore Green Building Council. He is also Board Director of the BCA Centre for Sustainable Buildings- a Centre Collaborating with UNEP, since its launch in Aug 2011. He was BCA’s representative in the UNEP – Sustainable Buildings and Climate Initiative (UNEP-SBCI)’s Sustainable Buildings Index (SBIndex) Steering Committee from 2010 to 2012. In addition, he co-chaired the Conference and Scientific Committee at the Regional Sustainable Building 2013 (SB13) Singapore. He has been the International Green Building Conference (IGBC) conference and scientific panel Co-Chair since 2012.
    Kian Seng was also Singapore’s representative in the International Energy Agency (IEA) Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) Executive Committee Member in 2011-2014.

  • Mr. Ashvinkumar Kantilal, PBM

    Secretary, SGBC | Group CEO, ONG&ONG Pte Ltd

    Ashvin’s involvement in green and sustainable initiatives and approaches started in 1986 during his student days in the School of Architecture, National University of Singapore (NUS), resultant of the influence of his tutors. He graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor of Architecture (Honours) and joined the private sector, becoming involved with many notable projects with many renowned architects in Singapore and overseas.
    As the Group Chief Eexcutive Officer in ONG&ONG, Ashvin is responsible for the group’s operations both within and outside of Singapore. Along with the ONG&ONG Executive Committee, Ashvin has expanded the company’s staff strength and increased its presence to more countries around the world.
    He has also helmed many professional institutes in Singapore, including stints as President of the Singapore Institute of Architects (2009-2012) and Asia, Chairman of the Arcasia Committee on Green and Sustainable Architecture (2011-2014) and being part of the Boards of the Board of Architects (BOA) and the National Environment Agency (NEA). Ashvin has also developed external links with local, regional and international stakeholders / partners to champion the green and sustainable cause and further strengthen Singapore’s position both as the leader in these fields and also setting high standards of excellence.

  • Mr. Tan Szue Hann

    Chairman, Sustainability Committee, SIA | Head, Sustainability, Surbana Jurong

    Tan Szue Hann is Singapore’s 2015 Young Green Architect of the Year (awarded by BCA and SGBC). He is Head of the Sustainable Urban Solutions Studio and Principal Architect at Surbana Jurong, Singapore. He is also a Registered Architect with the Board of Architects, Singapore, and a Council Member of the Singapore Institute of Architects, chairing the Institution Thrust and the Sustainability Committee.
    Szue Hann graduated with a Master of Architecture and a BA Arch (First Class Honours) from NUS, completing his Masters at UCLA. On graduation, he was awarded the Lee Kuan Yew Medal and Board of Architects Prize.
    Szue Hann has been involved in several award-winning building projects, such as the Parkroyal on Pickering and the SPACE Asia Hub with WOHA. His current work is in sustainable and smart urban environments in Singapore and the region, including BCA SkyLab, a state-of-the-art rotatable test bed for future smart and sustainable building technologies, regional masterplans and sustainability framework planning for developers in Singapore.
    He has also been an invited reviewer at the key architectural institutions in Singapore, and a speaker and moderator at various conferences, including the BCA International Green Building Conference 2013 and 2015, the World Architecture Festival 2014 and the Commonwealth Association of Planners Conference 2014.
    Szue Hann was recently appointed a World Cities Summit Young Leader by MND, as well as the Chairman of the ARCAsia Committee for Young Architects, in 2016.
